2018 Extensions to ADF ADF has served the AGTEK mobile applications well since 2010 but there have been additional requirements. It is desirable to add new capabilities to ADF and should be done in a way that's backwards compatible with existing applications. Generally backwards compatibility is accomplished by providing new entry types in the ADF zip, and older applications ignore the new entry types. Thus this requirement note doesn't aspire to change existing ADF types.

Overview The ADF file format consists of two parts: The components of the container file and the details of each component. The ADF file is a zip file that contains multiple other compressed and uncompressed files. These files when taken together provide all of the data necessary to recreate the project data in a program that may wish to display CAD information, or model a construction project or allow for the creation and editing of the construction project data.

Background AGTEK is using GPX files to record tracks and simulations on the Android platform. Largely we follow the GPX Standard. The use of GPX may also be useful on other platforms, desktop computers, etc. The core portion of GPX is fine for most of our uses (currently - August 2012), but there are some additional bits of information we need. Sitework Surfaces and Layer Definitions AGTEK's Data organization starts at Surfaces and those surfaces contain layers which either form the surface or are related in some way to that surface. Primary Surfaces The basic set of surfaces are Existing and Design. It is possible to have one without the other but no volumes or cut/fill color can be calculated without at least these two surfaces.
