The Materials 4X release is about adding the minimum features required to compliment Materials X which is co-mingled.
This is a minimalistic release and will be limited in the new features present. The follow-on release will add much more functionality. This version is likely 1.04
Features include:
Structure/Section Usage Dialog
- Add “Apply Materials Structure” to Utility menu. Naming is negotiable if you can think of a better one.
- Allow user to select Materials Structures from a list dialog to create Gradework Sections
- Interactive view - checking a structure shows that structure visually on screen.
What I'm imagining is while in Gradework/future Sitework, any Materials Area structures in the file are listed by name with a checkbox on whether they are present as a sectional in Gradework. We may want to consider for this dialog also listing the total sectional depth. Checking the box means that area is used as Sectional area as well.
Report Region/Sectional Dialog Modification
While we're leading with the idea of putting in materials first and using the Areas in Earthwork there's a symmetry to going the other way as well. By adding the Materials Structure list as an option to the Report Regions/Sectional dialog the user can also start his Materials takeoff if it begins in Sitework/Gradework. Structures need to be selectable from the list, allow displaying of the list, and the ability to add a structure as well. Giving the materials details of the selected structure also allows feedback that the correct structure is being picked.

Default Settings Changes
- 3D View - Edit>Vehicle Arrow Rate – set default to 10, currently set to 3
- Edit mode - Options>Snap Size – set default to 3, currently set to 4
- Import mode – Display set default to Black Background, currently set to white
- M hot key needs to be added to Display menu for orthomosaic .tif files, high/low contrast
- This could default high for ortho tifs and low for PDFs
- Make PDF Image Cache on Options menu accessible in Edit/Entry modes when job is open
- Adjust zoom level. First zoom level is too far in; need 2 or 3 more levels in-between extents and current first zoom level.
