This is an old revision of the document!
A tracker runs all day and then accidentally gets taken home. The track data after the work day doesn't add anything and complicates the viewing. The desire is to edit the track and eliminate that drive home track permanently.
The machine operations during a day can vary and some users have expressed the desire to break tracks into pieces by operations. For example: BMD of Australia would like to allow operators to tag whether they were hauling dirt, hauling topsoil, etc because of the cost and quantity differences.
SimpleTrack allows the user to change machines and doing so immediately breaks the track. In fact when changing out trackers (for rundown batteries) we often create small tracks at the beginning of the day when we reassign the machine. Besides being better organized in machine management it was also thought we could exploit this behaviour to take care of the BMD like users who desire better track breakdowns. For example they might have a machine called “627G 123” and another variation called “627 123-Topsoil” etc. and switching to the machine-operation would automatically break the tracks on the server.
Likewise there's a need in Trackwork to do a similar operation albeit after the fact. The question is how to do it, the replacement of existing tracks (you should be able to combine tracks to fix incorrect segmenting).
The Machine only moved for 5 minutes or didn't do anything we cared about so we want to clean up the list. It shouldn't be by accident and we ask if you're sure you want to permanently delete it from the server but in the end it has to go.
