This is a proof of concept for using mobile apps with different file back ends instead of AGTEK Access. Possible commercialization would probably be for non-US, Canada, and Australia entities or for use in derivative mass market apps with SmartPlan later.
Concept Proposal
There are three elements to the SmartApps to be considered. They are:
- Licensing - Currently they go to AGTEK Access
- File access - download and upload
- File creation - Currently only AGTEK produces .adf file but there are other KMZ authoring tools
- Branding - putting a different logo or naming the app differently for distribution.
Of these elements the only intended elements to address with this proof of concept is the File Access. The other elements have many non-technical issues to address before being started.
First Step
Use Licensing as is with Access for keys but add to the settings an option to use ConX for the remote data files (replacing Access on the tab and view).
Settings could look something like this although if we add any more services we may have to make it a radio style selection.
The Files screen will change simply to say ConX instead of Access as a choice.
We'll need to bring up a login for ConX if the user taps that tab and should remember it for the session but bring the dialog up. We can probably just resuse the AGTEK login screen and the Leica logo instead of AGTEK. I'll look for a better logo than this one.
After logging in the projects page displays pretty much like it does for Access but shows ConX at the top.
Second Step
The second step is probably branding (logo on page instead of AGTEK) but also would require ConX to generate ADF files. Licensing options would also need to be settled on.
