Progress Topo Flow Diagram

This page documents the flow diagram for the ProgressTopo mode within SmartGrade. Below is the Flow Diagram:

Note: the empty rectangles in the top right represent just a return from the state. They exist as a result of a limitation in the graphical tool used to create the image.

The progress Topo has two main pathways: Survey data and No survey data.

If Survey data exists, then we look for the presence of a boundary. If there is no boundary, then we auto-generate a boundary. At this point the survey data should exist with a boundary so we generate an isopach comparing the survey data against the compareTo surface that existed when we entered the ProgressTopo mode. The result should be a temporary cut/fill colored surface that can be viewed in 3D or used to look at a volume report. Or the user can edit the boundary to add or eliminate areas to be considered for the surface and volumes.

When the user is done editing the boundary it can then be turned into a Surface. This step converts the survey data into an intermediate surface and any non-fixed survey data is deleted. Once this conversion has been done, it cannot be undone. And again an isopach is generated relative to the intermediate surface.

The user can stop here or they can stage(merge) the surface with the CompareTo surface to generate another intermediate surface. Again an isopach is generated against the CompareTo surface. The user can look at eh result in 3D or view volume reports or quit.

If there is no survey data then we generate an isopach (probably already done) using the view and comapareTo surfaces on entry to the mode.
