Truck Tracking System

I don't know the magic marketing name for this yet. It consists of SimpleTrack to track trucks, scrapers, etc. and a yet unnamed program to provide the job foreman both production feedback and truck ETA and distance. The other different part of this is it's a mobile system that can be standalone from the desktop software.

Customer Environment/Issues

Trucks are problematic for construction for several reasons. By nature they are often out of sight and oversight hauling material in varying routes and traffic conditions. It's also very common for those trucks to be hired by the day rather than being owned by the construction company. Last, many of the operations on the job site are dependent on the trucks being on site in a timely manner.

The foreman has several concerns. They are:

Story 1

Screens and Function

As I imagine it these are the screens we'll need to present information and manage trackers/projects

Dashboard

This is the main screen presenting a summary of the action and a quick way to check job state. Information I can imagine showing here is:

Tracker Control

This screen allows for naming, setting projects, and potentially a way to dig deeper on performance. Naming needs to be very flexible due to the changing nature of trucks. We should think very carefully about ways we can minimize/simplify this area as both a place where mistakes can be made and lessening/smoothing the amount of work required by the foreman. License Plate/ Number/ TripTicket picture? for ID instead of name?

Plan/Location Screen

This shows us where trackers are located, paths taken, and is used to designate Load and Haul areas. It doesn't require a background ADF/KMZ/Openstreets/USGS but those would provide scale that would be helpful.

Reports?

End of day/midday reporting function. Output the kmz?

Note: While this is aimed at trucks which are a broad construction use case this also will work for Scrapers and other on-site vehicles.
