Notes

  * Automatically increment label each invert pipe segment  like 8” SD -1 , -2, -3 etc. Since pipe runs are typically straight between structures this gives us an easy way to break down the volumes by pipe run. Likewise they can subtotal together or be edited to be the same if multiple runs should be combined. In the case of imported Pipe runs with lots of extraneous points we should compress at some point as they are likely on the same slope.
  * We need an Underground volumes report. Imagine something like the volumes report broken down by the individual quantities per run. It should be in the Underground program.
  * We need to open up strata layers to changing colors or do shades of red with increasing intensity by depth. The current view with them all red in profile makes it difficult to discern between layers. Using colors in the report screen would also serve as a legend.

Rectangular pipe can be represented as a tab as shown here but could just as easily be a radio button that changes the interface. Your choice. 

We lost the ability to do benches in Underground and it's a big omission since they represent a large number of takeoffs where a flare alone isn't sufficient. We need to model this correctly

Backfill compaction is pretty important when calculating the remaining spoils. It's another thing we lost at some point and need back.

It's not uncommon that none of the trench spoils can be reused for backfill. In those cases there's a need for the select backfill to fill up the trench back to the grade used to enter the pipe. Checking this box does that without requiring specifying a value. This was a feature of old Edge underground but you had to remember to type a . in for a value.

Using the trench spec window to create a template for the trench in Gradework and also create a surface there. This ties the programs together and reinforces the modeling aspect in Gradework. The trench should daylight to whatever the selected surface is rather than just existing or subgrade. We should also consider using the Highway perimeter snugging routine to do the same to trenches rather than copying and clipping from the original surface.

This isn't a complete report but the first 8" SD shows the pattern. That's a single 8" SD run but it's broken out at the structures so each run is a segment. Quantities between pipe runs is an issue brought up and you can see where users would want the extra analysis for ordering, etc.

I've included Strata in this one as an example. The different part of this is not only are the volumes accessible within underground, they break out the related trench quantities together.

The depth brackets function is complete compared to previous versions but needs the strata breakdown.



Wishlist: Choose colors for strata or at least color them shades of red by depth. All of them being red doesn't help distinguish them. Using that color on the report would also serve as a legend.

  * Sections for in roadway - Breakdown numbers in roadway differently or just put report region for different costs.
